surf forecast

April 22nd Update - Contest is on GREEN LIGHT status for Monday, April 25th at 2nd Overpass in Vilano.  The forecast is for ± head high surf with light winds in the morning, eventually picking up out of the SE.  This swell is supposed to peak late Sunday, but continue on just fine for Monday AM.  Should be pretty fun for the early heats, and get a little softer and choppier for the final heats.  *low tide 9AM*

Detailed Explanation of the Green Light Call - Once I saw the forecast I knew this swell event was probably it for the month, there just wasn't enough time left for anything else.  In trying to figure out the best day, Sat-Mon looked best with light AM winds and decent size.  I ruled out Saturday because this swell has been filling in a lot slower than what was forecasted earlier, and because the low tide in the AM is a little too early to take advantage of.  Sunday might just be the best day, but because it's Easter a lot of people have commitments, including the volunteer judges and tabulators.  Monday was the call for me after process of elimination.  Lastly, there is a chance for offshores with some size left over Thursday/Friday, but it the winds are supposed to be gusty which didn't stoke me out too much.
